What are we trying to prove?

The purpose of this study was to prove our claim that true, capacity-controlled DC air conditioning makes a major difference in creating savings and more stable operation, even in unstable power networks.

How did we choose what to compare?

In general, Air Conditioners are a common choice for excess heat removal in the Telecom and electronics cooling industry.  For some applications, AC air conditioning is the ideal choice.  For others, a DC-based solution offers more benefits. But in some areas of the electronics cooling industry, there is a tendency to choose AC air conditioning even when DC air conditioning is an option.

Why include two types of DC air conditioning?

Among those who do choose DC-based air conditioning solutions, the trend shows a preference for on/off control.  This leaves the option of capacity-controlled DC air conditioning, which remains relatively untapped in the industry, despite the strengths of this technology in terms of maintaining stable temperatures and generating very high energy savings.
